Best of Web 2.0 lists

I know these are cropping up all over the place but here are two lists that I enjoyed. After going through these and several other lists I realize how far from the cutting edge I am when it comes to this stuff. Bloglines and Digg are the only software I use everyday if I don’t count WordPress that runs this blog. I wish I understood the hype around social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us, but I don’t. Maybe the problem is having my own startpage, Nordquist.org, which I can access anywhere. Do people really still organize their favorite sites by bookmarks as it seems so 1995.

Yet another reason the NBA is a bore

I love this quote from Ron Artest’s agent.

“Basketball is Ron Artest’s passion. In order for Ron to fully demonstrate his natural skills and abilities, to the best of his abilities, he not only must be in an environment that is conducive to his growth an development as a player, he must also ensure that his family is happy and content as well”

The only “natural skills” skills we’ve seen from Ron lately are going into the stands to fight with fans, breaking televisions, and recording the aptly named song called “Frustation”.  I say keep this idiot on the bench for the rest of the year. Make him sit and watch like he did last year while his skills fade. Does anyone care about the NBA anymore?

Nifty little iPod Utility

I’ve been looking for a utility that would backup anything I’ve purchased from iTunes. I came across CopyPod today and tested it out, and it works just as advertised. This is a simple solution for those who have purchased content (like audiobooks) but no longer need to keep it on their iPod but would like to keep a backup on their PC.

A few more cool Honda commercials and one from VW

How come only the UK gets to ‘hate something‘?

The famous Honda “cog” commerical. Still amazes me each time I watch it.

The Impossible Dream does a great job as showing many Honda machines. Love the ending!

Every piece has it’s purpose in this Lego themed commercial for the Element.

I still regret selling my first VW; a 1994 Passat GLX. Some of my favorite ads are from VW but this one has to be at the top. Song is “Pink Moon” from Nick Drake.

Annualcreditreport.com

When we bought our home this past summer I wanted to make sure there were no mistakes lurking in my credit report. If you Google for ‘credit reports’ you’ll be inundated with seemingly free credit report offers but most of them require sign-up to their credit monitoring services for $13/month. The only website that’s been designated to offer true free credit reports is being run by the big three credit reporting bureas called Annualcreditreport.com. You are entitled to one free credit report from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion each year.

It’s not a bad idea to have a current report in hand if you are considering making a large purchase such as a home or auto. At the very least it’s smart to check for errors and see which accounts are still open.
