Well, my Seahawks lost today in a mistake-prone game. But at least a few of the commercials were funny. You can watch them all at Google video.

Is this what Ford needs to be competitive?
I doubt this would work at the Isuzu plant. What if I drove an old Ford Fiesta that was assembled in Mexico? Would that count? But if you’re one of the unlucky 6000 DaimlerChrysler employees, you don’t need to worry about what brand of car you drive.
Strange Sign
I have no idea what this sign means. Does it mean watch for falling glacier if swimming nearby? Click picture to enlarge.

Best of Web 2.0 lists
I know these are cropping up all over the place but here are two lists that I enjoyed. After going through these and several other lists I realize how far from the cutting edge I am when it comes to this stuff. Bloglines and Digg are the only software I use everyday if I don’t count WordPress that runs this blog. I wish I understood the hype around social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us, but I don’t. Maybe the problem is having my own startpage, Nordquist.org, which I can access anywhere. Do people really still organize their favorite sites by bookmarks as it seems so 1995.
Yet another reason the NBA is a bore
I love this quote from Ron Artest’s agent.
“Basketball is Ron Artest’s passion. In order for Ron to fully demonstrate his natural skills and abilities, to the best of his abilities, he not only must be in an environment that is conducive to his growth an development as a player, he must also ensure that his family is happy and content as well”
The only “natural skills” skills we’ve seen from Ron lately are going into the stands to fight with fans, breaking televisions, and recording the aptly named song called “Frustation”. I say keep this idiot on the bench for the rest of the year. Make him sit and watch like he did last year while his skills fade. Does anyone care about the NBA anymore?
One of these things is not like the other
Seattle Seahawks pound the Carolina Panthers to reach their first Super Bowl
Pittsburgh Steelers embarass the Denver Broncos to reach the Super Bowl
Kobe Bryant takes 46 shots in scoring 81 points on the helpless Toronto Raptors
Nifty little iPod Utility
I’ve been looking for a utility that would backup anything I’ve purchased from iTunes. I came across CopyPod today and tested it out, and it works just as advertised. This is a simple solution for those who have purchased content (like audiobooks) but no longer need to keep it on their iPod but would like to keep a backup on their PC.
So you want to optimize Windows XP?
Andrew K puts together an amazing list of tips, utilities, and tweaks for Windows XP. I already use many of his suggestions but several were new to me and work very well. Definitely check out PC Wizard as a good alternative to SiSoftware’s Sandra.
A few more cool Honda commercials and one from VW
How come only the UK gets to ‘hate something‘?
The famous Honda “cog” commerical. Still amazes me each time I watch it.
The Impossible Dream does a great job as showing many Honda machines. Love the ending!
Every piece has it’s purpose in this Lego themed commercial for the Element.
I still regret selling my first VW; a 1994 Passat GLX. Some of my favorite ads are from VW but this one has to be at the top. Song is “Pink Moon” from Nick Drake.
Annualcreditreport.com
When we bought our home this past summer I wanted to make sure there were no mistakes lurking in my credit report. If you Google for ‘credit reports’ you’ll be inundated with seemingly free credit report offers but most of them require sign-up to their credit monitoring services for $13/month. The only website that’s been designated to offer true free credit reports is being run by the big three credit reporting bureas called Annualcreditreport.com. You are entitled to one free credit report from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion each year.
It’s not a bad idea to have a current report in hand if you are considering making a large purchase such as a home or auto. At the very least it’s smart to check for errors and see which accounts are still open.
